Mission Foods will close its tortilla plant in Pueblo, Colorado, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing reported by BizWest. About 90 jobs are affected at the 2110 Santa Fe Drive facility.
Manufacturing operations ceased around Aug. 14; the company set a full facility close for Oct. 13, with separations completed by Oct. 27 under the WARN timeline. Affected employees were to continue receiving pay and benefits through the official close date, per company statements carried by local outlets including Colorado Public Radio.
UFCW Local 7, which represents many workers, said corporate executives informed the plant on short notice that operations would stop immediately and criticized what it called years of underinvestment. Mission said it remains in the region through distribution centers and encouraged workers to apply for open roles. Mission is a Gruma subsidiary.
