FDA's Enforcement Report lists a Class II recall of Holsum Spinach Flour Tortillas Large from Holsum De Puerto Rico Inc., the Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, baker. The tortillas contain two certified color additives, FD&C Blue No. 1 and FD&C Yellow No. 5, that are not declared on the package. The company started the voluntary recall on Sept. 28, 2026, and FDA classified it on Oct. 14 under recall number H-0089-2027. The recall is listed as ongoing.

The recall covers the 8-count, 20-ounce package with UPC 810023430629: nine lots with expiration dates from Oct. 4 through Dec. 17, 2026, about 9,602 units in all (600.125 boxes, per FDA). Distribution was limited to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Lot numbers are listed in the FDA entry, which can be found by searching the recall number.

Class II is FDA's middle tier. It covers products that may cause temporary or medically reversible health problems, where serious harm is unlikely. Yellow No. 5, also called tartrazine, can cause itching or hives in some sensitive people, which is why federal rules require certified colors to be named on the label. Tortilla News did not find a separate consumer notice from the company. The details here come from FDA's Enforcement Report entry. Tortilla News Brief readers saw this item in Issue 2 on Oct. 20.
